Making TIME Magazine's '100 Most Influential People' list is no easy accomplishment.
Whether recognized as an artist, icon, leader, pioneer or titan, the honorees shape the future for the masses through their work.
Notably, the people of color on the TIME 100 list have beat all of the odds set against them. The honorees of color were able to overcome the systematic oppression that continues to hinder the success of many of their peers. Many are finally receiving the recognition that they have long deserved and we celebrate their profound accomplishments.
